Oba Femi age: 28 years old as of September 26, 2026.
Born April 22, 1998, in Lagos, Nigeria, Oba Femi is the professional wrestling name of Isaac Odugbesan, a former elite collegiate shot put athlete who transitioned from track and field into WWE.
That athletic background helps explain why Femi looks so different from the typical developmental prospect. Before becoming a WWE wrestler, he competed at the collegiate level, won SEC shot-put titles, reached the NCAA podium, and developed the explosive strength that now defines his power-based wrestling.
His wrestling career has moved at a remarkable pace. Femi won the NXT Breakout Tournament, captured the NXT North American Championship, became a two-time NXT Champion, won the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, and defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. WWE’s current profile lists him at 6-foot-6 and 302 pounds.
As of September 2026, Femi is part of WWE’s main roster and appears on Raw. His current career has already moved well beyond the developmental stage that introduced him to wrestling audiences.

How Old Is Oba Femi?
Oba Femi is 28 years old as of September 2026.
Multiple biographical sources identify April 22, 1998, as his birth date. Netflix’s WWE biography also lists his birth name as Isaac Odugbesan and his birthplace as Lagos.
The age matters because Femi entered WWE with a highly developed athletic foundation but relatively little conventional professional wrestling experience. Instead of spending years on the independent circuit, he entered through WWE’s athlete-recruitment and developmental pathway.
What Is Oba Femi’s Real Name?
Oba Femi’s real name is Isaac Odugbesan.
He competed under his birth name during his track-and-field career before WWE developed the Oba Femi ring identity.
Where Is Oba Femi From?
Femi was born in Lagos, Nigeria. WWE continues to bill him from Lagos, making his Nigerian background an important part of his public wrestling identity.
Who Is Oba Femi?
Oba Femi is a Nigerian-born professional wrestler signed to World Wrestling Entertainment. He built his early reputation in NXT, WWE’s developmental brand, before moving onto the main roster in 2026.
His story stands out because wrestling wasn’t his first elite sport.
Before stepping into the ring, Isaac Odugbesan was a highly accomplished track-and-field athlete. His specialty was shot put, an event that rewards force generation, hip drive, balance, timing, and explosive upper-body strength.
Those qualities translate naturally into a power wrestler.
In wrestling, Femi’s matches often revolve around controlling space, absorbing punishment, throwing opponents, and producing sudden bursts of offense. His physical presence does much of the storytelling before he even throws a punch.
WWE describes him as “The Ruler” and emphasizes his athletic background, physical size, championship accomplishments, and rapid rise through NXT.
The transformation from collegiate athlete to WWE headliner also illustrates how WWE’s modern recruitment system can create wrestling talent from athletes who didn’t spend years working independent wrestling shows.
Oba Femi Early Life and Athletic Background
The most important part of Femi’s biography happened before wrestling.
His background in track and field gave him a foundation that WWE could develop rather than build from scratch. Shot put requires an unusual combination of size and speed. An athlete can’t simply be heavy or strong. He needs to generate force quickly while maintaining balance and precise body positioning.
That combination is visible in Femi’s wrestling.
Oba Femi as a Shot Put Athlete
Femi competed in collegiate athletics at the University of Alabama after earlier competition at Middle Tennessee State University.
Alabama’s official athletics records document his success in the shot put. In 2021, he won the SEC Indoor shot-put title with a personal-best throw of 20.50 meters. He followed that with another SEC indoor title in 2022, throwing 20.71 meters.
His NCAA career also produced a significant result.
At the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Odugbesan finished third in the shot put with a 20.48-meter throw. Alabama Athletics described it as his highest individual finish at the NCAA Championships.
Those results provide useful context for understanding the athlete behind the wrestling character.
| Athletic achievement | Result |
|---|---|
| 2021 SEC Indoor shot put | 20.50 m |
| 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships | 11th |
| 2022 SEC Indoor shot put | 20.71 m |
| 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships | 3rd |
| 2022 NCAA shot-put mark | 20.48 m |
Why Shot Put Helped Prepare Femi for Wrestling
Shot put isn’t wrestling. The two sports demand completely different competitive skills.
However, several physical qualities overlap.
- Explosive power
- Lower-body drive
- Hip power
- Shoulder strength
- Upper-body strength
- Balance
- Timing
- Force generation
- Physical conditioning
- Competition experience

A shot put athlete learns to generate enormous force during a very short movement sequence. A powerhouse wrestler does something similar when lifting an opponent for a slam.
That doesn’t automatically make someone a great wrestler. Wrestling also requires ring awareness, pacing, counters, selling, match structure, microphone skills, and storytelling.
Femi had to learn those elements after entering WWE.
Oba Femi’s Transition From Athlete to Professional Wrestling
Femi’s transition represents a classic athlete-to-wrestler transition, although his route was unusually direct.
Rather than spending years building a résumé in independent wrestling, he entered WWE’s developmental structure after establishing himself as a collegiate athlete.
WWE’s recruitment programs have increasingly targeted athletes with the physical tools to become professional wrestlers. Femi fit that model extremely well.
His athletic résumé provided the raw material.
WWE then had to develop the rest:
- In-ring fundamentals
- Wrestling technique
- Character presentation
- Promos
- Match storytelling
- Timing
- Pacing
- Audience connection
- Television wrestling
- WWE-specific performance habits
The process wasn’t simply about teaching him how to perform a powerbomb. It involved learning how to make an audience believe that the powerbomb matters.
That’s a very different skill.
How Oba Femi Started His Wrestling Career
Femi entered WWE’s system in the early 2020s and trained at the WWE Performance Center.
His early development eventually led to his NXT appearances. WWE’s developmental system gave him the environment to turn his physical potential into a recognizable wrestling character.
His early matches made the formula obvious.
Femi was bigger than many of his opponents. He moved faster than his size suggested. Most importantly, WWE presented his strength as the centerpiece of his wrestling identity.
That became the foundation for the Oba Femi ring name.
Oba Femi’s NXT In-Ring Debut
Femi’s NXT career quickly became a showcase for his physical advantages.
By December 2023, he was competing in the NXT Breakout Tournament, where WWE immediately highlighted the contrast between his power and the more athletic styles of some opponents.
In the first round, he defeated Myles Borne with a powerbomb. WWE’s report specifically emphasized Femi’s power as the decisive factor.
He then defeated Tavion Heights in the semifinals.
That set up the final against Riley Osborne.
The 2023 NXT Breakout Tournament
The Breakout Tournament became Femi’s first major career breakthrough.
He entered the tournament as a relatively new NXT performer. He left it with a guaranteed future championship opportunity.
The tournament final took place at NXT New Year’s Evil in January 2024. Femi defeated Riley Osborne after countering Osborne’s high-flying offense and finishing him with a powerbomb.
WWE’s tournament structure gave Femi something extremely valuable: a title opportunity without requiring him to win a conventional No. 1 contender match.
The victory also established a recurring theme in his career.
Femi didn’t need to outmaneuver opponents for long stretches. His best matches often revolved around making a small opening and turning it into a devastating sequence.
What Did Oba Femi Win in the Breakout Tournament?
Femi won the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament.
The victory gave him a guaranteed championship opportunity.
He wouldn’t have to wait long to use it.
Oba Femi and the NXT North American Championship
January 9, 2024, became the night Femi’s wrestling career changed direction.
Dragon Lee had just defended the NXT North American Championship against Lexis King. Then Femi appeared.
He cashed in the championship opportunity he earned through the Breakout Tournament and immediately challenged the exhausted champion.
Femi defeated Lee and became the NXT North American Champion. WWE’s official results confirm the January 9 title change.
It was classic wrestling storytelling.
The titleholder had already survived one championship match. Femi arrived fresh. Instead of working through a lengthy traditional title chase, he used the contract he’d earned through the tournament.
The result gave the young wrestler immediate credibility.
Oba Femi’s NXT North American Championship Reign
Femi held the North American Championship from January 9 through October 8, 2024, for 272 days, according to WWE’s championship history.
That reign became a major milestone in his wrestling success.
| Championship | Reign | Length |
|---|---|---|
| NXT North American Championship | Jan. 9–Oct. 8, 2024 | 272 days |
| NXT Championship | Jan. 7–Sep. 27, 2025 | 262 days |
| NXT Championship | Dec. 6, 2025–Jan. 6, 2026 | 31 days |
WWE’s current profile calls Femi the youngest North American Champion in history and lists his reign at 272 days.
Who Defeated Oba Femi for the North American Title?
Femi eventually lost the championship to Tony D’Angelo on October 8, 2024.
That ended one of the defining championship runs of his NXT career.
The loss didn’t push him out of the title picture. Instead, it helped move his story toward the bigger prize.
Oba Femi’s Rise Toward the NXT Championship
Once Femi had established himself as a major secondary champion, the next logical step was the NXT Championship.
That transition took place at the beginning of 2025.
Femi won the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline, earning a championship opportunity. WWE later positioned him against NXT Champion Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe.
The resulting match became a pivotal moment.
Oba Femi’s First NXT Championship Victory
At NXT New Year’s Evil on January 7, 2025, Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a Triple Threat Match to become NXT Champion.
The victory demonstrated an important part of Femi’s career progression.
He had moved from:
new prospect → Breakout Tournament winner → North American Champion → Iron Survivor winner → NXT Champion
That is a remarkably fast climb through the WWE developmental pathway.
Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe
The Triple Threat format suited the story because Femi didn’t have to carry a conventional one-on-one match structure from bell to bell.
Trick Williams brought speed and timing.
Eddy Thorpe brought technical and physical variety.
Femi brought overwhelming power.
WWE’s match report described Femi hitting Fall From Grace to secure the championship after Thorpe and Williams’ actions created the opening.
Oba Femi’s First NXT Championship Reign
Femi’s first NXT Championship reign lasted 262 days, from January 7 to September 27, 2025, according to WWE’s official title history.
That is a substantial championship run for an NXT titleholder.
He also defended the championship against major challengers during the reign.
At Stand & Deliver 2025, Femi defended the championship against Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans in a Triple Threat Match. WWE’s official results show Femi surviving the challenge and retaining the title.
The match illustrated his wrestling formula well.
He absorbed high-impact attacks, used his size to control the pace, and repeatedly turned defensive situations into power offense.
Oba Femi’s Second NXT Championship Reign
Femi returned to the top of NXT later in 2025.
WWE’s championship history records his second NXT Championship reign as running from December 6, 2025, to January 6, 2026, a total of 31 days.
He defended the championship against TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater at NXT New Year’s Evil on January 6, 2026.
Femi won the match.
Then he did something unexpected.
He left the championship in the ring.
WWE reported that Femi vacated the NXT Championship after defeating Slater.
That moment effectively marked the end of his NXT chapter.
It also opened the door to the WWE main roster.
Oba Femi’s WWE Main-Roster Rise
The move to the main roster became official in early 2026.
At the 2026 Royal Rumble, Femi entered as the No. 1 entrant. WWE’s official results record that he eliminated Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, Rey Mysterio, Rusev, and Matt Cardona before Brock Lesnar eliminated him after more than 39 minutes.
That appearance immediately created a storyline connection with Lesnar.
The two powerhouses eventually met at WrestleMania 42.
Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania
Femi accepted Lesnar’s WrestleMania 42 open challenge.
It was a classic powerhouse versus powerhouse matchup.
Lesnar had decades of combat-sports and professional wrestling credibility behind him. Femi represented a younger generation built through modern athlete recruitment and WWE’s developmental system.
At WrestleMania 42, Femi defeated Brock Lesnar with Fall From Grace. WWE’s official results confirm the victory.
That was arguably the biggest match of Femi’s career to that point.
The symbolism mattered as much as the win itself.
A former collegiate athlete from Lagos had gone from WWE developmental training to defeating one of the company’s most physically imposing stars on the WrestleMania stage.
Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar: The Rematch
The first match didn’t end the rivalry.
At WWE Clash in Italy on May 31, 2026, Lesnar defeated Femi in their rematch. WWE’s official results recorded that Lesnar survived several major attacks before winning with an F-5.
The rivalry then reached another level at SummerSlam.
At SummerSlam 2026, Femi defeated Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. WWE reported that Lesnar embraced Femi afterward and called him the future of WWE.
The three-match sequence gave Femi something valuable that a single victory couldn’t provide: competitive history with an established WWE legend.
Oba Femi and the 2026 King of the Ring
The next major milestone arrived at the 2026 King of the Ring tournament.
Femi defeated several opponents on the way to the final, including Penta, Solo Sikoa, Carmelo Hayes, and Dominik Mysterio. WWE then booked him against Jey Uso in the final.
At Night of Champions on June 27, Femi defeated Uso to win the 2026 King of the Ring tournament.
The victory earned him a World Title opportunity at SummerSlam.
It also fit his character perfectly.
The wrestler known as “The Ruler” literally became king.
Oba Femi’s Wrestling Style, Character, and Strengths
Femi’s wrestling style starts with physical credibility.
At 6’6″ and 302 pounds, he doesn’t need to manufacture the impression that he’s powerful. His size creates that impression immediately. WWE then reinforces it through his offense.
Power-Based Wrestling
Femi relies heavily on:
- Powerbombs
- Chokeslams
- Heavy strikes
- Running uppercuts
- Throws
- Lifting moves
- Short bursts of explosive offense
- Fall From Grace
His best sequences usually have a simple structure.
Opponent creates momentum → Femi absorbs or counters it → Femi creates space → explosive power move → match-ending sequence.
That simplicity is useful.
A powerhouse doesn’t need twenty signature moves. The audience needs to understand which moves can end the match.
Physical Presence
Femi’s physical presence also affects pace control.
Smaller opponents often have to move around him. That naturally creates contrast.
A fast wrestler may attack from several angles. Femi can wait for one mistake.
When the opening appears, he closes the distance quickly.
That is where his track-and-field background becomes especially interesting. Shot put requires short bursts of force. Femi’s wrestling often uses the same principle.
Character Presentation
The Oba Femi ring name supports his larger-than-life persona.
“Oba” is associated with a Yoruba royal title, giving the character a natural connection to kingship and authority.
WWE has built that into the presentation through the nickname The Ruler.
The character revolves around:
- Authority
- Confidence
- Certainty
- Dominance
- Regal presentation
- Physical credibility
- A controlled sense of intimidation
The character works because his wrestling style supports the story.
A wrestler presented as a ruler needs to look capable of taking control.
Femi does.
Major Oba Femi Career Achievements
Femi’s résumé already contains several major milestones.

| 2023 | NXT Breakout Tournament victory |
| 2024 | NXT North American Championship |

- Former NXT North American Champion
- 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor winner

- 2026 King of the Ring winner
- WrestleMania 42 winner over Brock Lesnar
- SummerSlam 2026 Hell in a Cell winner over Brock Lesnar
Has Oba Femi Ever Lost in WWE?
Yes.
That answer matters because some online biographies describe Femi’s dominance without explaining the context.
His WWE career has included losses.
For example, Brock Lesnar defeated Femi at Clash in Italy in May 2026 after Femi had defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.
His NXT career also included championship setbacks.
He lost the NXT North American Championship to Tony D’Angelo after his 272-day reign.
His first NXT Championship reign eventually ended on September 27, 2025. WWE’s title history records Ricky Saints as the next champion.
So the accurate description isn’t that Femi has never lost.
It’s that WWE has consistently presented him as a highly protected and physically dominant WWE wrestler whose losses usually become part of larger storylines.
Oba Femi Personal Life, Marriage, and Public Information
Femi keeps much of his personal life away from WWE programming.
That makes it important to separate confirmed biographical information from online speculation.
His public profile establishes his Nigerian birthplace, athletic background, wrestling career, and education. His family background has also been reported in biographical sources, including his parents, Niyi and Maria Odugbesan.
However, detailed information about his private life, including marriage, children, daily routine, religion, and private beliefs, isn’t part of his regularly documented WWE biography.
Is Oba Femi Married?
There is no reliable public evidence establishing that Oba Femi is married as of September 2026.
That means claims about an Oba Femi wife should be treated cautiously unless Femi himself or a highly reliable source confirms them.
The same applies to online claims about a girlfriend or relationship.
Wrestling fans naturally become curious about the personal lives of rising stars. Still, a public wrestling persona doesn’t make every private detail public information.
Oba Femi Net Worth and Income
Oba Femi net worth estimates vary widely across the internet because WWE does not publicly disclose individual wrestler contracts.
That distinction matters.
Some websites currently publish estimates around $1 million to $2 million, while other estimates go higher or lower. One 2026 estimate places his net worth at approximately $2.8 million, but that figure is explicitly an editorial estimate rather than a disclosed financial statement.
Therefore, a reasonable public-facing estimate is roughly $1 million–$3 million in 2026, but it should not be presented as verified personal wealth.
Where Does Oba Femi’s Income Come From?
A WWE performer’s compensation can include several components:
- Contracted compensation
- Performance-related pay
- Premium live event bonuses
- Merchandise revenue
- Appearance income
- Licensing
- Potential sponsorships
- Other contractual incentives
The exact split for Femi isn’t public.
His move to the main roster should also have increased his earning potential compared with his developmental period. His WrestleMania 42 appearance, King of the Ring victory, and prominent Raw position have substantially increased his visibility.
However, net worth isn’t the same thing as salary.
Taxes, living expenses, management costs, travel, investments, and other private financial obligations all affect actual wealth.
Oba Femi Social Media and Current Career Status
Femi has built a substantial online profile alongside his WWE career.
Social media gives fans access to a different side of the wrestler than weekly WWE programming. Training clips, promotional appearances, photographs, interviews, and event material can all expand the character beyond television.
For current information, the safest sources are:
- WWE’s official Oba Femi profile
- WWE’s official social channels
- Femi’s verified social-media accounts
- Official WWE match records
Fan-maintained wrestling databases can help with historical research, but they shouldn’t automatically override WWE’s official championship records.
What Is Oba Femi Doing Now?
As of September 26, 2026, Femi is a Raw performer on WWE’s main roster.
WWE’s recent Raw archive shows Femi involved in the September 21 episode, where he helped Je’Von Evans against The Vision.
That places him firmly inside current main-roster programming rather than NXT.
His 2026 career path has therefore moved through several distinct stages:
NXT Champion → Royal Rumble debut → WrestleMania victory → King of the Ring → Raw main-roster star
That is a significant acceleration for a wrestler who only entered WWE’s developmental system a few years earlier.
Why Oba Femi’s Wrestling Rise Matters
Femi’s career offers an interesting example of modern WWE talent development.
For decades, aspiring wrestlers often spent years traveling through independent wrestling promotions before receiving national exposure.
Femi followed a different route.
He first became an elite athlete, specializing in a technically demanding field event. WWE then identified his physical potential and developed him inside its own system.
That pathway has several advantages.
The company can work with an athlete before another wrestling promotion establishes a competing character or style. Coaches can also build fundamental wrestling skills around an existing physical foundation.
But the process has a catch.
Being strong isn’t enough.
A successful WWE performer needs to understand match storytelling, character work, promos, timing, audience psychology, television production, and live-event performance.
Femi has gradually added those elements to his athletic foundation.
His career progression demonstrates the importance of combining physical credibility with character identity.
The “Ruler” concept gives audiences an easy story to understand.
He’s big.
He’s confident.
He believes he’s destined to control his surroundings.
Then the wrestling supports the character.
That’s effective sports entertainment storytelling.

Final Takeaway
The answer to Oba Femi age is straightforward: he is 28 years old, born April 22, 1998, in Lagos, Nigeria.
His biography, however, is much bigger than his age.
Before becoming Oba Femi, Isaac Odugbesan was a talented track-and-field athlete and elite collegiate shot putter. His athletic career included SEC championships and an NCAA Outdoor Championships bronze medal.
WWE then transformed that athletic foundation into a professional wrestling character built around size, explosive power, authority, and confidence.
The results came quickly.
He won the NXT Breakout Tournament, captured the NXT North American Championship, held that title for 272 days, became a two-time NXT Champion, and won the 2026 King of the Ring. WWE then moved him onto the main roster, where he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 and later beat Lesnar again inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
As of September 2026, the Nigerian-born wrestler is competing on Raw, with his career firmly established beyond the NXT developmental system.
His story is a useful example of how elite athletic ability, structured WWE development, character presentation, and championship opportunities can combine to create a rapid rise in professional wrestling.
For fans searching for Oba Femi age, the number is 28. The more interesting story is everything he has already accomplished by reaching that age.
